The 19th annual Bert’s Big Adventure trip is underway, and we will be embarking on our annual magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World on March 23rd. We couldn’t be more excited to be welcoming a new bunch of families to Bert’s Big Adventure! The health and safety of our Bert’s Big Adventure families, staff, and volunteers is always our number one priority. We have a fantastic volunteer medical team who have been advising us since the beginning of the pandemic. New this year, Bert’s Big Adventure is also working with an epidemiologist (focused on disease outbreaks) and senior staff physician of infectious diseases at Emory Healthcare.
To ensure everyone’s health and safety, the trip will look a bit different this year. Our team has created a set of COVID-19 guidelines and protocols that ALL trip participants must follow. We’ve also thought of every potential situation that could arise and have plans in place to address anything that may happen. Changes to this year include but are not limited to the following:
- The group attending the trip will be much smaller than in years past, and we think that will make it even more special. All 7 of our families are counting the day to the big departure, and we are right there with them!
- Our volunteer medical committee has reviewed every child’s medical history, and the children have also been approved to travel by their physicians (twice!).
- Everyone ages two and up will be required to wear a KN95, N95, or KN94 mask at all times while indoors and when mixing with large groups outdoors.
- All attendees will be required to participate in daily Covid testing administered by a medical professional. Attendees will also be required to produce a negative Covid test before arrival on Wednesday.
- Everyone ages five and up must be fully vaccinated as defined by the CDC.
