Amber
Our next Fairy Godparent spotlight belongs to the amazing Amber! Here’s what she has to say about her Fairy Godparent journey so far.
“I started listening to The Bert Show in 2012, and whenever I heard about Bert’s Big Adventure, it felt like I was reading a storybook—if that makes sense.”
“As the ‘reader,’ I would have thoughts like, Wow, that’s awesome! How amazing that they do this! But it didn’t occur to me until later that I could actually be part of the story–Like I could be a part of these magical moments with these amazing kids and their families. Once I had realized that, I sent in my application to become a Fairy Godparent in 2016, and from there, it’s been an incredible adventure since, filled with years of smiles, heartfelt moments, and the BEST hugs imaginable!”
“There are many standout moments that I’ll never forget. I remember taking home my first piece of artwork from a hospital visit—a rainbow that a BBA kid had dedicated to me. It’s still hanging on my wall!”
“I remember receiving the BIGGEST hug from a BBA kid one night. It warmed my heart because she was supposed to be the superstar flying to Disney World the next day, yet that hug made me feel like a million bucks.”
“I remember meeting Malakai for the first time. He shared that one of his hobbies was rapping, and of course, I HAD to hear a sample. After he finished, I told him how talented he was, and I’ll never forget how surprised and grateful he was to hear that. That moment meant so much to me—not just because it made him happy, but because it was the beginning of getting to know how truly wonderful Malakai was, and what a positive influence he was on others and to myself, even to this day. The BBA community and I miss him so much.”

Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!
Launched in May of 2010 through the Carter’s Charitable Foundation, our Fairy Godparent Volunteer Program supports Bert’s Big Adventure’s children and their families through the stress and uncertainty of hospitalizations. The beloved fairy godparents visit Bert’s Big Adventure kiddos at partner hospitals daily throughout their hospitalization, bringing toys, activities, food and a much-needed break for the entire family.
In addition to the Fairy Godparent Volunteer Program, Carter’s also provides a team of volunteers at the Disney Send-Off Celebration and Family Reunion Adventures throughout the year. Because of its strong support and unwavering commitment to Bert’s Big Adventure, Carter’s has become a trusted teammate, helping Bert’s Big Adventure accomplish more each year.
As a token of our appreciation, we’re going behind the scenes of our Fairy Godparent program and bragging about a volunteer every first Friday of the month! Won’t you help us in making them feel extra special and loved?
