Surprising families who have been selected to go on the Bert’s Big Adventure trip is a perfect way to celebrate during the holidays!
This week, Bert, Kristin, Davi, Cassie, Moe, and Bert’s Big Adventure staff members and volunteers gathered at Santa’s Fantastical to surprise eight of the newest families selected for Bert’s Big Adventure’s annual trip to Walt Disney World! Families were lead to believe that they were meeting Bert for a casual dinner and a final interview at Galla’s Pizza. What they didn’t know was that they were about to be in for the surprise of a lifetime!
Pulling a trick from the Disney playbook, the kiddos and their families arrived to Galla’s, but Bert was nowhere to be seen. While the families ate, Kristin stalled the families periodically by popping up and apologizing on Bert’s behalf. Atlanta weather and traffic truly cooperated more than usual by giving us rain to explain why Bert was stuck elsewhere. All the while, the families feasted on some delicious pizza and made new friends while waiting. About 45 minutes in to our guise, Kristin popped up to explain that Bert hadn’t actually read the email and he was at the wrong location. She suggested that the group join him where he was at and the kiddos loved this idea! They were met outside Galla’s by Darth Vader and Stormtroopers ready to lead them down the sidewalk to Santa’s Fantastical! They arrived to Bert and our amazing costumed characters and volunteers, an epic party, and surprise, the key to Walt Disney World 2019!!
A big thank you to Santa’s Fantastical for providing their beautiful and interactive venue for this magical evening! Another special thank you to Galla’s Pizza at the Perimeter for hosting our pizza {stalling} party and Cindy Powers, for bringing 30 Disney and Star Wars characters to make the evening even more magical! Last but not least, thanks to Dash Photography, Cassandra Young Photography, and Davila Photography for capturing these special images and Masters of Visual Arts for our awesome video!!
If you want to help out Bert’s Big Adventure, sign up to be a volunteer, make a donation (every amount helps), or you always apply or nominate a family that you know!

Just a quick note – not all the kids going on the trip have been notified yet, but we were able to surprise these eight!
