On Sunday, December 3rd, 80 athletes competed in Bert’s Barbell Adventure–a CrossFit competition benefitting Bert’s Big Adventure! This was the second year CrossFit Etowah has organized this competition. Crossfit Etowah’s head coaches, Blake McDonald and Jeff Rice, have been volunteering for Bert’s Big Adventure for almost 15 years!
The athletes were in teams of four and participated in three workouts throughout the day. Two of the three workouts were in memory of Bert’s Big Adventure kiddos Ziyonn and Karma; who passed away earlier this year. The athletes gave it their all, especially during the ‘Angel WODs’ and honored these strong heroes wonderfully!
Bert’s Barbell Adventure had some wonderful sponsors that made this day possible!
The space for the competition was donated by Kill Cliff and The Stave Room at American Spirits Works. Kill Cliff provided complimentary recovery drinks all day, sold apparel and donated a percentage of their sales back to Bert’s Big Adventure!
Lauren Holt Photography and David Alexander from the Kill Cliff team captured every lift, smile and drop of sweat that day!
Happy Belly Kitchen & Truck brought their food truck out to serve amazing, healthy food to the athletes and supporters!
Myosin Fitness donated shirts for all the winners bags.
Joseph with Sports BodywoRx offered free massage therapy and taping for the athletes.
Krave Beef Jerky donated samples for the athletes and had a booth at the event providing snacks and taste tests for those who attended.
Overall, the day was amazing! It was a positive, encouraging and inspirational event. We are so thankful to the athletes that registered to participate in this event and to the sponsors and vendors that helped make it great. Bert’s Barbell Adventure raised over $8,000 for Bert’s Big Adventure! Thank you to everyone who came out to support and we cannot wait until next year!
