Director of Development

  • Take a strategic approach to relationships with donors and sponsors to build strong long-lasting partnerships in order to maximize fundraising campaign successes
  • Plan, develop, manage, and evaluate fundraising campaigns, customized donor impact opportunities, and scaling donor opportunities with growth in capacity
  • Manage fundraising initiatives for specific programs that may be funded by foundations, corporations, organizations or individuals.
  • Identify funding sources – Grants, in-kind donations, charitable events, marketing opportunities
  • Utilize prospect research tools and donor database to build/enhance donor relationships
  • Delegate/manage/oversee activities of fundraising teams
  • Be a creative thinker and create fun ways for small donations or donations of all sizes
  • Develop and manage a public relations strategy by collaborating with Design teams, Social Media Managers, and internal teams to create effective marketing materials, advertising campaigns and communication plans for promotions to support acquired sponsorships and special events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create and execute personalized communications, marketing, and engagement plans for sponsors, donors, and prospects
  • Assist in preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures and preparing financial reports.
  • Stay on top of fundraising trends and nonprofit community initiatives
  • Develop/strengthen relationships with media community to expand the target audience and donor base in The Bert Show affiliate markets
  • Participate in event planning activities
  • Be efficient in everyday activities like email, phone, and social media, as well as be able to multitask, lift bulky and sometimes heavy objects, budget resources, and be flexible to daily changing demands



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of event planning experience with a demonstrated track record for planning and communicating details to employees or volunteers and vendors.
  • Five years of experience in broadcast sales with a demonstrated track record for meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Two years of experience with CRM software to manage donor data base
  • Two years working in a nonprofit environment
  • Be proficient with social media applications
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking and planning skills
  • Experience in managing and building a portfolio of donor/sponsor prospects
  • Experience in business development and negotiation
  • Effective communication skills throughout the entire corporate hierarchy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create and deliver powerful presentations
  • Data analysis experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required
  • Candidate will be required to provide proof that she/he has a valid driver’s license if offered employment.
  • Be available to travel up to 15%, or as needed
  • Be available to work weeknights and weekends up to 40%
  • Passion and understanding for the challenges facing families with a child with a chronic or terminal illness
  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Ability to be proactive and work with a sense of urgency when required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders (sponsors/donors/ families/team)
  • Have a donor and volunteer service mentality
  • Be an organized and inspiring team leader
  • Superior and persuasive written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Creative and a self-starter attitude
  • Illustrate effective time management, multitasking, and flexibility within an ambiguous and fast-moving environment
  • Must have a focused, results-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail and follow-through
