Our city’s leaders didn’t have to spend millions of
dollars on a “Brand Atlanta” campaign to convince the
world of our city’s greatness—they could have just
come to us.
After all, every year we compile the barometer of what’s
best about life in the Big Peach: the can’t-miss attractions,
the hottest restaurants, the coolest celebrities, the defining
trends. (Hey, someone has to do it.) So as we blow out the candles
on our second birthday cake, please enjoy our gift to you: the
utterly random yet absolutely unassailable SP 100—the people,
places and things that put the “great” in ATL.
96. Bert’s Big Adventure
Why: The staff of Q100’s morning-drive gabfest “The
Bert Show” champions many worthy causes—including their
own heartwarming nonprofit. That is, each year, ringleader Bert
Weiss and crew take a break from their role as Atlanta’s
premier coffee klatch to treat a handful of chronic and terminally
ill children to a weekend at Walt Disney World, medical staff in
tow. How can you not be moved?
